When I was in college, I received a lot of assignments that required me to draw every day. I normally hated these assignments because I lacked inspiration and ended up looking around my house for things to draw. Looking back over my old sketches, I remember focusing on completing the assignment instead of strengthening my style. I was completely stuck hoping that everything would just click.
I can’t help but wonder what my creative journey would have been like if I chose to focus on finding my voice instead of worrying about completion. In college, I didn’t know my identity and it’s very apparent in my old work.
