What happens when you feel like life is going against your sense of purpose? What happens when you feel everything that should work out keeps falling through? As I reflect back on situations when God told me “no,” I’m able to see with clarity that He had a much better plan than I had. When you’re worried about a situation and feel like you don’t have any options, try approaching the challenges this way.
See your value.
God is saying no because He values you. You have a lot to offer in anything that you do and He knows your potential. Jobs or school may feel a bit boring sometimes, but that doesn’t mean that He can’t use what you have to impact the world around you.
Don’t attempt to do things on your own without input. Talk with the people in your life who can help you. Sometimes we don’t realize what we’re capable of and it can take a few kind words from others to help us get a better idea about what our gifts and strengths are.
Embrace the right opportunities.
Don’t feel like you have to settle for anything. Try news things, talk with others about your desire to grow, and seek out God’s guidance. You will be amazed at the things that will come your way when you are open to new things and pray for God’s will for your life.
Don’t be desperate.
Don’t accept things completely out of desperation. This is where living by faith comes in. Even if it means you have to wait awhile for an opportunity that better fits you, trusting that God will provide will lead you to a better place.
Instead of complaining about what God is saying no to, focus on what He’s saying yes to and pray for His guidance. He has a better idea of what’s going to work for you and would never give you something that isn’t designed specifically for you. It may be out of your comfort zone or not what you had in mind, but your Father has not called you to pursue safe and easy things. We have been placed here to seek out His glory and to serve others.
Have you been feeling like God is saying no to something? How have you dealt with that struggle?
