As 2015 comes to a close, I have been reflecting on my year and how God has been good these past two years. I know I caused some confusion moving to New York City last year then moving to Denver a few months later. My life has been an example of living by faith and how God can take you through your fears to strengthen you for His purpose.
Last year I made the crazy decision to move to New York City. I wanted to do something different and felt God was calling me out of my comfort zone. I had a lot of fears about the future and the unknown but decided to answer the call and head out to New York City. I adapted quickly there but discovered that things weren’t going to work out as well as I was hoping. God closed every door that began to open for me and I couldn’t understand why. I struggled for the next three months trying to find a way to stay there but kept coming up short. By then I was living completely on faith and trying to not worry. Around Christmas time I was homesick, almost out of money, and ready to leave. I made plans to come home for Christmas and decided that if my last plan didn’t work out that I would leave New York. Within the week, God made it clear I wasn’t supposed to go back. So in January, I made plans to return to New York to pack and leave.
It was really hard to make that decision. I almost felt like a failure because nothing worked out, but I learned so much about living by faith and fully relying on God’s will. I went on an adventure, met some amazing people, and got to learn more about myself.
After my adventure in New York City, I decided I wasn’t going to go back to Indiana. I made the decision to come out to Denver, Colorado to try my search again. This time, God provided. I am taking on many opportunities and I’m a part of two great churches. Life doesn’t always work out how you think it will, but God always has a plan.
There is so much I have learned through the past couple years that I would love to share with everyone. I will be writing my experiences in segments here on my blog and will be posting weekly!
